LIZZIE RIDOUT MA(RCA)
Communication Art & Design

Lizzie Ridout MA (RCA) is an artist living and working in Cornwall, UK.

Lizzie’s work is concerned with language and communication; in particular language as concept, matter and mode. She explores language as material practice and this interest in physicality has led to practice-based works in which materials interrogate themselves – their back-story and their legacy. She loves paper and books and often works with publishing as a dynamic receptacle, fixing language and conveying information across time and space.

Lizzie studied Graphic Design at Falmouth College of Arts and completed a Masters in Communication Art & Design at The Royal College of Art. Her work has been exhibited both in the UK and further afield. She has undertaken various residencies including most recently a residential workshop organised by CAST, Cornwall, UK; as Book Artist in Residence at Women’s Studio Workshop, NY, US; Pearson Creative Research Fellow at The British Library, London, UK and Artist in Residence at Fiskars, Finland. Her bookworks are held in various international collections and she’s delivered papers about her practice at a number of conferences nationally and internationally.

Lizzie divides her time between being a part-time lecturer in Graphic Design at Falmouth University, continuing her own studio practice and raising her daughter.
